Abstract

A contact treatment with 15 mg of 1-(3-nitrophenyl)-4,4,6-trimethyl-1H, 4-Hpyrimidine-2-thiol (3NTPT) for four hours to females of red cottonbud, Dysdercus koenigii resulted in a progressive decline of DNA and RNA in the ovarioles. An overall fall in pyrinophilia was recorded in the trophocytes, trophic core, nutritive cords, follicular epithelium and oocytes. Following these degenerative changes and the subsequent resorption of the oocytes, the nucleic acid contents got completely wiped off.
