Abstract
Laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures in children and adolescents aged 10-15 with dentofacial pathologies were used to conduct an evaluation of hematological parameters of bone metabolism as well as calcium and phosphorus metabolism (total calcium, ionized calcium, inorganic phosphate, parathyroid hormone, calcitonin, osteocalcin, 25-hydroxyvitamin D3), the acid-base balance in the oral fluid (unstimulated salivatory flow rate, buffer capacity for acidity, buffer capacity for bases), as well as to investigate the dynamics of biochemical activity in mixed saliva after the oral microflora was stimulated with sucrose-containing test loads. Proof has been obtained to the fact that a reliable index reflecting the intensity of the morphological and functional disorders in case of dentofacial pathologies, can be found in an increased total Ca/P and Са2+/Р ratio gradient under reduced serum levels of calcium (both total and ionized) as well as in a reduction of the total Ca/P ratio gradient given increased calcium levels (total and ionized) in mixed saliva.
